Empowering 2024: 7 Free Journaling Prompts for New Beginnings

Oh hey there! Haven’t seen you since last year, lol. Welcome to 2024!! 😊

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate the fact that we made it. We grew, laughed, cried, and learned. We know more today than yesterday, and that, my friends, is an accomplishment.

Now that we’re here, what are we doing? Any exciting plans for the upcoming year? For me, my main goal this year is to be consistent. I want to grow this blog and start my own digital shop. I love designing things that are both helpful and joyful to others, as well as myself. More about that later😉  I thought I might try to focus the content this year on themes. So for January, our content will focus on New Beginnings. I’ll share my 2024 plans, my tarot spreads, goal setting, journaling prompts, and of course free printables!

So let’s dive into the magic of the new year together!

2024 Planner Line Up:

My word for the year is: EMPOWER

For me, this means giving myself permission to take more control in life. No, I can’t control everything, and to be honest, I don’t want to, but I do want to step out of my shell and control what I can in life. I want to be more confident and courageous. I want to empower others to live in their light and have fun in life.

My planner line-up has 3 key purposes:

  1. Tracking Habits: Sterling Ink Passport Vertical Planner As someone with ADHD, I can forget things and lose track of how much time has passed since doing something. I can make it the whole day without eating because it just never crosses my mind. I'm still learning how to manage but keeping everything in one place is helpful. I also track bills and household tasks.

  2. Keeping up with Tasks and Braindump: Create with Pen Passport and Moterm Cover Last year, I struggled because I wanted everything to be perfect and pretty. When I really just need something that can be flexible and portable. Something that has just a little color but mostly a go with the flow notebook to capture random and top-of-mind thoughts.

  3. Staying Connected with Myself: B6 Stalogy Half-Year This will be for journaling, spiritual practices, and memory keeping. Sometimes you just have a lot to get out and need space to really dive in without page numbers and borders getting in the way. I just want to create, use washi, and capture my life’s moments and lessons. I went with the half-size because my full year B6 planner from Aura Estelle x Annie Plans got super chunky.

I really tried to focus on what purpose the planning was serving rather than picking a planner and trying to find a purpose. I hope you also found a plan that works, and if not, don’t worry I know you will get there. Need a little help? Check out my last blog where I share the template I used to craft my 2024 line-up

Freebie!:

To start the year off right, I want to help you all with journaling and getting those creative juices flowing. So I want to share some journaling prompts you can use throughout the month, or anytime really. I know this is a place where I struggle, so I thought if I had some ready-made prompts, it would lower the barrier to entry and make it more approachable. I would also spend less time trying to think of what to write. Some days that work, but some days it doesn’t.

  1. Celebrate Your Wins: Take a moment to cheer for the small victories and happy moments from the past year. What made you smile, laugh, or feel accomplished? Give yourself a pat on the back!

  2. Create a "Joy List": List down activities, hobbies, or simple pleasures that bring you joy. Plan to incorporate more of these into your routine for a happier and more fulfilling year.

  3. Dream Big, Plan Small: Imagine your ideal year. What fun and exciting things do you want to experience? Break down these dreams into small, manageable steps. It's the little things that add up to big adventures!

  4. Pick a Fun Skill to Learn: Choose a quirky or interesting skill you've always wanted to master. It could be anything from juggling to learning a magic trick. Make it a goal to bring a bit of fun and novelty into your life.

  5. Make a "Good Vibes Only" Playlist: Create a playlist of songs that make you feel happy, motivated, or just downright silly. Play it when you need a mood boost, and let the music set the tone for positive vibes.

  6. Start a Random Acts of Kindness Challenge: Plan a series of small, kind gestures to spread joy. It could be as simple as complimenting a stranger or leaving an uplifting note for a friend. Share the kindness and watch it multiply!

  7. Plan a "Me Day" Adventure: Schedule a day just for yourself. What's your ideal way to relax and recharge? Whether it's a movie marathon, a nature walk, or a DIY spa day, make time for self-care and fun.
