Embracing our monthly theme of "New Beginnings," let's explore the art of crafting vision boards, a creative project suitable for solo endeavors, family activities, or even a date night! If the idea of vision boards seems overwhelming, fear not. Let's start by gathering your supplies – whether it's a cork board, poster board, or a trusty notebook, the choice is yours. I personally recommend an affordable and easy-to-use poster board from the dollar store, and we've got you covered with a free vision board template for added convenience. What’s a vision board?

In simple terms, a vision board is a visual representation of your goals, dreams, and aspirations. It typically consists of a collage of images, words, and symbols that reflect what you want to achieve or manifest in your life. This powerful visualization tool helps clarify your goals, maintain focus, and bring about positive changes.

Tools needed:

  • Poster board

  • Pictures (I printed my images as polaroids)

  • Glue (or sticker paper)

  • Canva vision board template

  • Color printer

  • Creative items (markers, washi, stickers, etc.)

Creating a vision board

Step 1. Decide on your focus areas

Research and decide on focus areas. For this 2024 overall vision board, I chose spirituality, finances, travel, future-looking, career, word of the year, business, love, quote, family, hobby, and affirmation. Feel free to choose what resonates with you.

Step 2. Create your goals

Write a high-level version of your goal next to each focus area. This will guide your image search. Keep it simple; we're just starting out. For example, next to “finances” you could write “pay off debt and invest for the future.”

Step 3. Find images that align

Let your creativity flow! Use Canva or any image search engine to find pictures aligning with your goals. Be imaginative, adding quotes, affirmations, or anything inspiring.

You can use either the editable Canva template here or download a PDF version in our free resource library.

Step 4: Layout your vision

Print and cut your completed template, then arrange the polaroid-inspired images. Add some flair with washi tape, stickers (I used some from my Happy Planner book), or other creative elements. Pro tip: Print it out on sticker paper to make the process nice and easy. I used this sticker paper from Amazon

Step 5: Share your vision

Walk through your board with someone special. Make it interactive by voicing your goals aloud. Turn it into a date night activity, as my hubby and I did. It's a powerful experience to visualize and share your aspirations.

Step 6: Behold your masterpiece

Congratulations! You now have a beautiful vision board. Hang it in a spot where you'll see it daily, drawing inspiration from its visual harmony.

Now that you’re done, make sure to also take time to reflect on your vision board regularly. Update it as your goals evolve or as you accomplish certain milestones! I hope you enjoy crafting your vision board! Share your creations in the comments or tag me on Instagram. Let's cheer each other on!

Happy crafting! 🌟
